NEWS YOU CAN USE FROM VANDYKE SOFTWARE® With fall weather turning crisp -- at least in the northern hemisphere – it's time to do something you really like, to reward yourself. Watch the World Series, take the dog for a walk, tailgate before the football game, pick up some fresh apples (or green chile) before they're all gone. We did something we really like and put out two spanking new official releases, SecureFX® 4.0 and SecureCRT® 5.2. So we hope you'll reward us and yourself by trying them. We have other enticing news to fit a variety of tastes, from the piquant upcoming VShell® release to some "comfort food" information on forum activity and web news on products and security. Dig in! ------------- 1. SecureCRT 5.2 Official - HTTP Proxy Support Makes A Difference -------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- More seamless HTTP proxy support is one of the new features that has been praised by beta customers in the SecureCRT 5.2 and SecureFX 4.0 applications. If someone is your proxy it means they represent you, that they serve in your capacity. Network proxy servers inhabit a similar position of power and trust, and we worked hard to "play nicely" with them. You can now use basic and unauthenticated HTTP proxies, which simplifies proxy setup. Playing nicely is all well and good, but for some the real excitement comes from getting work done more easily, faster. For you, we have a slew of ways to get more done with tabs: launching new tabs from the command-line, scripting tabs, and switching tabs. For more information on SecureCRT 5.2, visit the product section today, or just jump in and download your copy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- SecureFX 4.0 is now available in official release, giving you two major options for secure file transfer: SFTP with Secure Shell and FTP over SSL (TLS). Now you can move files securely even when the remote machine only supports SSL, or when the firewall doesn't allow Secure Shell connections. But that's not all. You can now queue up files to be transferred, preventing errors if the remote FTP server doesn't allow multiple connections. You can also move files more easily in both SecureFX and the SFXCL command-line utility. In the making-your-life-easier category (especially if you're an admin) SecureFX 4.0 shares two new capabilities with SecureCRT 5.2: enhanced support for X.509 host keys, and simplified HTTP proxy setup with support for unauthenticated and basic proxies. Try SecureFX 4.0 official today and increase your secure file transfer flexibility.
----------------------------------------------------------- VanDyke Software is looking for VShell users who are interested in testing an upcoming release which will enhance the triggers capability. The new triggers will provide more ability to script responses to SFTP activities on your system, and automate additional file activities. Some of the triggers we would like people to test are: File renamed, File deleted, Folder created, Folder renamed, Folder deleted, Login, and Logout. The new file triggers can allow you to use scripts to set up a mirror of a local structure on a machine that you don't want to give direct user access. Login/logout triggers let you log file activities, or you can move files to make them available to a user or groups of users; then perform cleanup and logout. . ---------------------------------------------------------- Forum user dan d jones asks, "How do I include a command to paste whatever's in the clipboard in a keymap? I'd like to map Control-T to 'telnet [PASTE] \n'." The \v command pastes the current clipboard contents to the active session
window. So in Mr. jones's case, he would send "telnet \v\n". This top-level overview may be useful if you are putting together a proposal to add VShell to your systems.
