Company Biographies
Jeff P. Van Dyke - Founder and CEO
Jeff is the Founder and President of VanDyke Software. He formed
the company in 1995 to develop small TCP/IP applications to
be distributed
over the Internet. He brings nearly 20 years of experience, including
retail management, network management, teaching, and programming
to his position.
Through 1996, Jeff was the primary developer of the company's
first product, CRT™. Since then, his focus has shifted to
developing and leading an ever-growing team as the company expands
into new
products and markets.
Prior to founding VanDyke, Jeff did C++ development as a research
scientist at the University of New Mexico and for Object Science
Corporation, a small SBIR funded start-up. During this time, he
also taught courses in computer architecture and UNIX system administration
for the University of New Mexico.
His early career was in retail, where he spent six years working
for Cloth World Inc., rising from sweeping the floors to managing
two different stores in Houston. At 20, Jeff was the youngest of
300 store managers, responsible for turning two stores around, including
an 80% sales increase in the first one.
Jeff received a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from the University
of New Mexico.
Frances Brass - Chief Operating Officer
Frances oversees day-to-day operations, managing orders, technical
support, customer satisfaction, accounting, legal affairs, facilities,
human resources, and information services. With over 20 years experience
in management, human resources, finance, and customer service management,
she is responsible for integrating customer-focused initiatives
throughout the company's operations.
Frances brings to VanDyke experience in managing operations for
engineering, accounting, professional services, gaming, and health
care organizations. Before joining VanDyke, she was the Director
of Human Resources at the Pueblo of Sandia of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She has also held executive and management positions with Harrah's
Entertainment, Inc., REDW Business and Financial Services of Albuquerque,
and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California
School of Medicine in San Diego.
Frances holds numerous professional certifications and licenses,
including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner
(CFE), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and Senior Professional
in Human Resources (SPHR). She has an M.B.A from Webster University,
San Diego. She also received a bachelor's degree in history from
Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in business and
management from Northeastern Illinois University.
Maureen Jett - Product Director
Maureen is the Product Director for CRT, SecureCRT®,
and SecureFX®. She joined VanDyke Software in 2000 as a software
developer and later managed the development team. She played an
influential role VanDyke's adoption of pair programming and was
the company's first XP (eXtreme Programming) coach.
Maureen has been working in computer software since the mid-80s,
including positions at Tally Systems, WordPerfect, and EDS. In
her various roles as a programmer, development manager, and project
manager, an enduring passion has been good user interface design.
She completed Cooper U's Interaction
Design Practicum, created VanDyke Software's license wizard
interface, and as Product Director continues to focus on interaction
design.
Maureen enjoys learning about other cultures and lived in Germany
for two and a half years while working in the software group at
the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry. Her other
travels include treks to India, Turkey, New Zealand, and a number
of European countries.
Maureen received her B.S. in Computer Science from the University
of New Mexico.
Jake Devenport - Customer Support Manager
Jake manages the Customer Support Group (CSG), heading up VanDyke's
industry-leading effort to provide unmatched technical support.
CSG's goal is to answer all customer e-mail within two hours.
Jake joined VanDyke Software in 1999 as a software developer. He
has worked on various aspects of CRT and SecureCRT, including help
files, WYSE50/60 support, Xmodem and Zmodem, font scaling, and Activator.
Some of his contributions to VShell include work on the SFTP roots
and the Connection and Port Forward Filters user interfaces in the
VShell Control Panel. Jake also helped to put in place a series
of unit testing tools for VanDyke's eXtreme Programming implemenation.
Prior to joining VanDyke Software, Jake earned a bachelor's degree
in the computer science program at the University of New Mexico.
While finishing his degree, he worked as a system administrator
in the Computer Science department at UNM.
