Generate/VShellIcon.gif  Configuring SecureCRT to Work with VShell


The following steps describe how to configure VanDyke Software's SecureCRT® to work with VShell. The procedure below assumes that you have installed and are using SecureCRT 3.4 or newer.

1.   Start SecureCRT.

2.   In the File menu, click on Connect... to open the Connect dialog.

3.   Click on the New Session toolbar button to create a new session .

4.   In the Session Options dialog, click on the Connection category.

5.   Choose SSH2 as the Protocol.

6.   Click on the SSH2 subcategory and choose Standard as the SSH Server.

7.   Click on the Emulation category and choose VShell as the Terminal and check the ANSI Color check box.

8.   Check the Select an alternate keyboard emulation check box and, in the Keyboard entry box, choose VShell.

9.   Enter 25 in Logical Rows, and enter 80 in Logical Columns.

10.  Click on the Appearance category and click on the Font button.

11.  In the Font dialog, select Terminal in the Font window.

12.  Click on the OK button to save your settings.

VShell Mouse Support

To enable limited mouse support in VShell, you must add the VSHELL_MOUSE Windows environment variable to your system. This will enable VShell to send mouse escape sequences to SecureCRT.

To set up VShell mouse support, follow these steps:

1.   On the desktop of your VShell server, right-click on My Computer and select Properties from the menu.

2.   If you are running Windows 2000, select the Advanced tab from the Properties dialog and click on the Environment Variables button.

3.   Add VSHELL_MOUSE to either the System Variables or User Variables list and set its value to 1.

4.   Click on the OK or Apply button to save your settings.
