VShell® Server — Secure Remote Access |
||||||||||
Providing secure remote access to applications inside the firewall is an increasingly common business requirement. E-mail, corporate calendars, databases, and other applications are critical resources that mobile workers and remote employees need to be able to access. Your job is to provide that access while maintaining security for the network. Secure Shell offers the ability to tunnel TCP/IP application data through an authenticated and encrypted connection. VShell, in combination with VanDyke Software® SecureCRT® client, allows you to provide the secure access your organization needs.
VanDyke Software offers a white paper that shows how VShell, and SecureCRT can be deployed to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end solution to secure client/server applications. This white paper:
Secure Shell can tunnel data from any TCP application with a predefined listening port. Commonly known as "port forwarding", Secure Shell tunneling makes it easy to secure applications that would otherwise send unprotected traffic across public networks. Because several applications can be multiplexed over a single Secure Shell connection, firewall and router filters can be tightened to just one inbound port: the Secure Shell port (22). VanDyke Software VShell server and SecureCRT client enable Secure Shell tunneling on Windows and UNIX platforms. VShell supports connections from any protocol-compliant client on Windows, OpenBSD, Linux, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, MacOS, and many other operating systems. Secure Shell clients are even available for Palm OS and WinCE PDAs.
