Secure File Transfer with VanDyke Software

The internet is a simple, convenient, and cost-effective channel for data delivery—as long as your data is protected. Secure Shell prevents unauthorized access by enforcing authentication, providing strong data encryption, and preventing interception or modification of data while in transit. VanDyke Software's VShell®, SecureFX®, SecureCRT®, and VanDyke ClientPack command-line utilities provide a complete solution for transferring files safely over the internet.

SecureFX, in combination with an SSH2 server like VanDyke's VShell secure access server, provides a secure file transfer solution that is as easy to use as standard file transfer protocol (FTP) but with the robust authentication, encryption, and data protection of the Secure Shell.

SFTP transfers with SecureFX use a single, secure channel for data transfer

Prior to the introduction of the SFTP protocol, it was popular to use SSH port forwarding to secure the control channel portion of a file transfer. However, this solution did nothing to secure the actual transfer of data. SecureFX can establish a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) connection with an SSH2 server and conduct a completely secure file transfer.

SecureCRT, VanDyke's Secure Shell client, supports secure file transfers using the SFTP, Xmodem, and Zmodem protocols. VanDyke also offers the vcp and vsftp command-line utilities for secure file transfers from the command line. Like SecureFX's SFTP transfers, these file operations are fully secured by Secure Shell authentication and encryption.
