1. Tip: The SFXCL Command-Line Utility Explained
--------------------------------------------------------------------

The SFXCL command-line utility provided with SecureFX can be used to automate file transfer operations. This tip outlines best practices to use in employing SFXCL. Topics addressed include
correct command-line syntax, using log files for troubleshooting, and how to test manually before automating tasks. Information is also provided on SFXCL exit codes, wildcards, ASCII vs. binary transfers, and generating log file names. Example batch files and VBScript code are included.

2. Tip: Lock Down File Access with VShell Virtual Roots
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

A major strength of the VShell server is the ability to selectively control user access to the file system. This tip discusses how to "lock down" user SFTP access to a specific folder with the "Use single virtual root" option. The folder can be a single destination for all users, or may be a home directory for each user. The structure of the file system may be exposed to the user or concealed, as you determine.

Call for Testers: SecureCRT Tiled Sessions
---------------------------------------------------------------

VanDyke Software is looking for people to test tiling for SecureCRT for Windows. Tiling lets you view your sessions in a single window at the same time, which is useful for comparing session contents.

4. Call for Testers: VShell for FTPS, Now on UNIX
------------------------------------------------------------------

VanDyke Software is looking for people to test FTP over SSL support in pre-beta releases of the VShell FTPS server for UNIX operating systems. This variant of the VShell server provides a secure file transfer option using the FTP protocol in which all data sent or received can be protected by SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and TLS- (Transport Layer Security) based encryption.

If you would like to test and provide feedback on this feature, please send e-mail to .
