Replace Telnet & FTP with proven Secure Shell encryption

The VShell® server provides secure remote access and file transfer based on the open Secure Shell protocol instead of using Telnet and FTP. Although Telnet and FTP are still widely used and are broadly available on client and server platforms, it can be a serious vulnerability to leave Telnet and FTP ports open on the firewall. When you use Telnet or FTP, every bit of data you send and receive is sent in the clear, including your user name and password.

  • The VShell server, available for both Windows and UNIX, replaces your Telnet server and also offers data tunneling services.
  • VShell supports SFTP and SCP.

The SecureCRT® and SecureFX® client applications from VanDyke Software are the other half of replacing Telnet and FTP.

  • SecureCRT, the multi-tool for network pros, supports Secure Shell, Telnet, RLogin, and serial connections.
  • Once connected securely, use command shells with a wide choice of terminal emulations including: VT100, VT102, VT220, ANSI, SCO ANSI, Wyse 50/60, and Linux console, with support for ANSI color in all emulations.
  • SecureFX, the only file transfer application you'll ever need, supports SFTP, FTP over SSL (TLS), and conventional FTP.
  • Once connected securely, drag and drop files to and from the server to your local hard drive.
  • The SecureFX client includes SFXCL, a scriptable command-line utility for secure unattended file transfers.
