CRT 3.1 Release Provides Linux Console Emulation

Albuquerque, N.M. (July 3, 2000) — Van Dyke Technologies, Inc., a provider of quality Internet software, announced today the official release of its CRT 3.1 terminal emulation software for Windows®, with expanded support for Linux, and also Windows 2000 compatibility.

Version 3.1 provides complete Linux console emulation, with support for ANSI color, a Linux keymap, and mouse reporting. Many standard Linux utilities run and display better with the new configuration.

"The Linux console emulation makes a connection to a Linux server easy to configure and use," said Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of Van Dyke Technologies, Inc. "It's such a good native environment that if you use CRT's full screen mode with the Linux console, people might think you're running a Linux workstation, not Windows."

In addition to the Linux console mode, CRT provides VT100, VT102, VT220, ANSI, and SCO ANSI emulations. Other core CRT features include support for telnet, rlogin, serial and dialup connections, extensive customization capability with many font, cursor, and color scheme options available for each session, tree-based session management, VBScript support, transparent printing, and ZModem file transfer.

Windows 2000 support in CRT 3.1 adds the latest release of Windows to the product's support for a wide range of Windows operating systems, including Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98.

Prices are US$34.95 for a single-computer license, US$300 for a 10-computer license, and US$1800 for a 100-computer license. Unlimited user site licenses are available for US$5995. Fully functional evaluation software is available for download at

The user base of Van Dyke Technologies CRT has grown to more than 450,000 licensed users in over 100 countries since version 1.0 was released in 1995. The company also sells SecureCRT for Windows, a secure client which adds support for the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol to CRT's capabilities. Van Dyke Technologies is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
