CRT 3.4 Release Provides Scalable Font Support and NTLM Authentication

Albuquerque, N.M. (October 10, 2001) — VanDyke Software, a provider of quality Internet software, announced today the official release of its CRT 3.4 terminal emulation software for Windows®, with scalable font support and NTLM authentication for compatibility with Microsoft® Telnet Server.

Version 3.4 adds scalable font support to CRT's already extensive set of customization choices, allowing font sizes to scale proportionally with the window size, up to a fully maximized window. The font scaling option keeps row and column settings fixed as the window grows and shrinks in contrast to the standard behavior of changing row and column settings on resizing. Each method has its place in displaying corporate data, from displaying a standard screenful of information at a comfortable size to maximizing what can be shown on the screen.

"Scalable font support has been a feature much requested by CRT customers," said Jeff P. Van Dyke, president of VanDyke Software. "Like its much more expensive competitors, CRT now offers the option to do what is very intuitive for many Windows users—change the window size without affecting the terminal emulator's row and column settings."

Adding NTLM authentication to CRT is important in Windows networks because the Microsoft Telnet Server uses this authentication method. Along with this high level of compatibility with Windows systems, CRT continues to support a broad range of emulations for Unix, Linux, VMS, and other operating systems, as well as multi-protocol support for telnet, rlogin, serial, and dialup connections.

CRT 3.4 is compatible with a wide range of Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 98.

Prices are US$34.95 for a single-computer license, US$300 for a 10-computer license, and US$1800 for a 100-computer license. Unlimited user site licenses are available for US$5995. Fully functional evaluation software is available for download at

The user base of VanDyke Software CRT has grown to more than 500,000 licensed users in over 100 countries since version 1.0 was released in 1995. The company also sells SecureCRT® for Windows, a secure client which adds support for the Secure Shell (SSH) protocol to CRT's capabilities. VanDyke Software is based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
