SecureCRT® Scripting Support
SecureCRT gives you the tools you need to make system administration more efficient. VanDyke Software's terminal emulation program allows you to automate time-consuming and repetitive tasks using scripts.
Task Automation
SecureCRT's scripting functions allow you to perform a wide range of activities, including:
- Create login scripts
- Send commands/text to connected hosts/devices
- Transfer files
Users also have options for how to launch scripts. You may select script files to run from the main menu or map scripts to the customizable button bar or a user-specified keyboard combination.
Multiple Scripting Languages
SecureCRT supports several popular scripting languages:
- Python
- VBScript (Windows® only)
- Jscript (Windows only)
- PerlScript (Windows only. Requires installation of third party ActiveX scripting engine.)
Support for standard scripting languages means that users do not have to learn a new, proprietary scripting language to automate routine tasks. Support for Python enables scripting capability across most major platforms — Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Script Recorder
Users do not have to be scripting experts to automate tasks in SecureCRT. The script recorder records keystrokes and generates a script file for you. (Script recorder generates VBScript or Python code for Windows users, Python code for macOS and Linux users.)
